Rose Bowl Parade

The Police arrest 72 in Rose Bowl festivities

A total of 72 people were arrested along the Rose Parade route and at the Rose Bowl overnight and today, mostly for alcohol- related offenses, police said.

By the end of today's game between Wisconsin and the Texas Christian, won by TCU 21-19, police had arrested 27 people in and around the Rose Bowl, said Janet Pope Givens of the Pasadena Police Department.

Most of the arrests were for public intoxication, she said.

Another 45 people were arrested along the parade route between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. today, also mostly for public intoxication, she said.

Three people were cited for driving without a driver's license, interfering with a peace officer, misdemeanor assault and urinating in public, she added.

"Fun times on the boulevard, huh?" Givens said.

She said the number of arrests was relatively low, considering the hundreds of thousands of people who attended the parade and football game.
