2010 BET Awards Belong To Chris Brown.

Chris Brown, Alicia Keys and Eminem shined the brightest among the star-filled Shrine Auditorium on Sunday night (June 27th), wowing the audience at the 2010 BET Awards in Los Angeles.

Chris Brown put out a sizzling tribute to Michael Jackson, just days after the one-year anniversary of the pop icon’s death, with a medley that included “Remember the Time” and “Billie Jean.” The embattled R&B star’s take on “Man in the Mirror” was measured and emotional, tugging at the hearts of many as Brown broke down during the song’s refrain.

Fabricio Werdum

Shamrock announces retirement from MMA

Lost in the shuffle of Fedor Emelianenko's loss to Fabricio Werdum on Saturday was Frank Shamrock's announcement that he is retiring from mixed martial arts.

Shamrock came to the cage inside HP Pavilion, long considered Strikeforce's home arena, with his family and announced he is done fighting.

Shamrock, backed up one of his many nicknames (The Man Who Brought MMA To San Jose) by consistently drawing in his home city at HP Pavilion. Shamrock's fight with Cesar Gracie in 2006 set a then-North American record of 18,265. His fight with Phil Baroni is considered by many to have one of the most electric atmospheres for a fight in the sport's history. His fight with Cung Le drew 16,326 and a gate in excess of $1 million. His final fight, both at HP Pavilion and in his career, drew 15,211 fans when he fought Nick Diaz in April 2009.

The 37-year old Shamrock will wrap up his career with a 23-10-2 record, a record that includes retiring (the first time) as the unbeaten UFC middleweight champion.

Asian Carp

Invasive Asian Carp caught near Lake Michigan

The nightmare scenario of Asian carp entering the Great Lakes through Chicago waterways is closer to reality as the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee announced today they have captured an invasive bighead carp in Lake Calumet, 6 miles away from Lake Michigan.

The fish’s capture Tuesday bolsters repeated environmental DNA tests which have shown that the carp have evaded an electrical barrier intended to prevent their movement out of canals artificially connecting the Great Lakes and Mississippi River system.

memphis beat

TV Tonight: Memphis Beat

The Judging TNT's new cop drama Memphis Beat is less a critical question than a philosophical one. In brief, the series, starring Jason Lee, is mostly a standard-issue summertime basic cable cop procedural, somewhat distinguished by less frantic pacing, a touch more attention to character beats, and a smidgen of local color. So the question is: do you give the show credit for slightly changing up the formula it works with, or do you mark it down for doing far less with the setting and cast than it could have?

You can probably guess from how I phrased that where I come down. I don't believe in grading TV on a curve, because I don't watch TV on a curve. So while I like how Lee's laid-back style translates to a police drama, there's not enough here to separate the show from the umpteen other slightly-quirky-guy-solves-crimes cable dramas.

The first sign of trouble: Elvis. I'm not saying this to slight the King, but when you set a show in Memphis and rely for most of your early cultural and musical references on the one artist that 99% of your audience will think of when thinking of your city—here, Elvis songs, Elvis covers, Elvis impersonators—it's not a good sign of your show's imagination. Unlike regional dramas Treme, or Justified, or Friday Night Lights, this is not a show that's trying to get inside its city and make us see it with new eyes; it's just committed to delivering What We Think About When We Think About Memphis.

Here, we're introduced to Memphis detective Dwight (Lee) onstage in a bar, performing, of course, an Elvis cover. As we follow him to work, we find that he's got the same encumbrances as most TV cops, especially a tough new boss (Alfre Woodard) who, of course, is making the old boys in the department uncomfortable by implementing a new set of rules. The first case he picks up ties into Memphis' music heritage by involving an elderly woman who was an early figure in the local music scene, allowing for a further connection to the city's culture. Of course, that means more Elvis references. (The title of the episode? "That's Alright, Mama.")

One possible problem is that the show was largely shot not in Memphis but outside New Orleans, giving the locations a more generic Southernness rather than the documentary-like feel of a show like Treme. And it's a shame, because one thing Memphis Beat does have is a good cast, including, in a supporting cop role, DJ Qualls—whose appearance, however, only recalls the much more vital and distinctive Memphis of the movie "Hustle and Flow."

It's too bad. Memphis Beat had at its disposal the rich culture of a city that hasn't been portrayed to death on TV. But this show needs to find its soul.

Edith Shain

Edith Shain, WWII nurse in iconic Times Square kissing photo, dies at age 91

A nurse famously photographed being kissed by an American sailor in the New York's Times Square in 1945 to celebrate the end of World War Two has died at the age of 91, her family said on Tuesday.

The V-J Day picture of the white-clad Edith Shain by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt captured an epic moment in U.S. history and became an iconic image marking the end of the war after being published in Life magazine.

The identity of the nurse in the photograph was not known until the late 1970s when Shain wrote to the photographer saying that she was the woman in the picture taken on August 14 at a time when she had been working at Doctor's Hospital in New York City.

The identity of the sailor remains disputed and unresolved.

From then on the photograph also made its mark on Shain's life as the fame she garnered led to invites to war related events such a wreath layings, parades and other memorial events.

"My mom was always willing take on new challenges and caring for the World War II veterans energized her to take another chance to make a difference," her son Justin Decker said in a statement.

Shain, who died at her home in Los Angeles on Sunday, leaves behind three sons, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

general mcchrystal

Obama Summons His Top General in Afghanistan, Back to White House, After Disparaging Remarks

The President Obama is waiting to meet his top general in Afghanistan face-to-face after the general ripped the president and other members of his national security team in a controversial article appearing in Rolling Stone magazine.

The commander-in-chief has summoned General Stanley McChrystal to the White House for a previously scheduled meeting in the Situation Room on Wednesday. Typically Gen. McChrystal would participate in the monthly meeting on Afghanistan and Pakistan via secure video-conference, but Obama has demanded to see McChrystal in person.

In the article, McChrystal sheds light on many of his contentious relationships within the Obama administration. He makes disparaging remarks about President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry, and National Security Adviser Jim Jones. McChrystal acknowledges he voted for the president but recalls how Mr. Obama looked "uncomfortable and intimidated" by a roomful of military brass.

In his comments about U.S. Ambassador Eikenberry, the general says he felt "betrayed" and was "blind-sided " by the ambassador's harsh criticism of McChrystal and his counter-insurgency war strategy, in a classified cable that was leaked to the New York Times earlier this year.

General McChrystal also talks about Vice President Biden, who opposes the counter-insurgency plan. The general is quoted joking about Biden, "'Are you asking about Vice President Biden?' McChrystal says with a laugh. 'Who's that?'

'Biden?', suggests a top adviser.

'Did you say: bite me?'", answers McChrystal.

McChrystal has now fired Duncan Boothby, the press aide who booked the Rolling Stone interview.

An aide to McChrystal also calls National Security Adviser Jim Jones "a clown" who remains "stuck in 1985".

General McChrystal spoke to Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen on Monday. Mullen said he was extremely disappointed in what he read in the Rolling Stone story. He also spoke with Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, D-Mass., and Senate Armed Services ranking member John McCain, R-Ariz.

Early Tuesday McChrystal issued a statement of apology for his remarks:

"I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened. Throughout my career, I have lived by the principles of personal honor and professional integrity. What is reflected in this article falls far short of that standard. I have enormous respect and admiration for President Obama and his national security team, and for the civilian leaders and troops fighting this war and I remain committed to ensuring its successful outcome."

Poem

A Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day

usa slovenia world cup

World Cup: U.S. vs. Slovenia: Tied in the 86th minute

Michael Bradley's goal with 8 minutes left in regular time has lifted the U.S. into a 2-2 tie with Slovenia, keeping alive it hopes of advancing to the second round of the World Cup.

Bradley was trailing a play into the box when Jozy Altidore leaped to head a long pass from midfield. The ball didn't go where Altidore had aimed it, but Bradley, unmarked behind the play, raced in to scoop it up and bat it home for the goal.
Altidore had a chance to tie the score for the U.S. in the 70th minute when he picked up a rebound off a Landon Donovan free kick, spun and fired on the net from about 16 yards. But Slovenian keeper Samir Handanvoic was right there for his second huge save of the day. Ten minutes later, midfielder Bradley had a shot of his own from about 25 yards, but the keeper came up big.

The game started getting physical at about that point as the U.S. became more desperate and the Slovenians, playing defensively for the first time, turned to a little roughhousing to slow the Americans down.

Both of Slovenia's goals came in the first half, in the 13th minute off the boot of Valter Birsa and in the 42nd from Zlatan Ljubijankic. The U.S. score came from Donovan three minutes into the second half.

Representatives from the Pet Company are due in court on July 1 where a judge will determine what will be done with the animals.

bloomsday

Bloomsday all over

James Joyce's landmark novel "Ulysses" follows the peregrinations of Leopold Bloom around Dublin, Ireland, during a single day. That day, as fans of Joyce know, is June 16, and it's become known as Bloomsday in celebrations around the world. Here is a partial list.

Bloomsday in Baltimore is -- where else? -- at the James Joyce Pub, starting at 5 p.m.

In Syracuse, N.Y., the mayor will be one of many participants in a marathon reading, set to begin at noon.

In New York, Symphony Space presents its 29th annual Bloomsday on Broadway, with a cast that includes Stephen Colbert, Ira Glass and National Book Award-winning author Colum McCann. Irish-born McCann is also the man behind the 13-hour Folk House celebration, where he'll appear midday.

With the help of the public library, Charleston, W.Va. is celebrating its first official Bloomsday.

The Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia, which holds the handwritten manuscript of "Ulysses," has moved its celebration indoors because of rain. There will be theatrical presentations for Bloomsday in Berkeley and Ocean City, N.J.; the latter comes with tea.

Here in Los Angeles you can celebrate Bloomsday at the Hammer Museum, with staged readings, Irish songs and a Guinness happy hour in the cafe.

In Dublin, where celebrations started last week, postman Gerry Scanlon told the Irish Times, “From the very first day I was delivering post, I knew Joyce was born in this house.” Sanlon is the man who brings mail to 41 Brighton Square, where Joyce was born in 1882. “That’s because I ran into tourists looking for it. There used to be a lot more of them around. You don’t see so many these days.” The report continues:

Scanlon has “no interest” in reading anything by Joyce. “I know what Ulysses is about though. It’s about this guy who went around Dublin on June 16th and ended up somewhere else from where he started out.”

Many of the Bloomsday celebrations involve walking from place to place, and ending in a different place than where they started. Pittsburgh's Bloomsday starts in a coffeeshop and ends in a bookstore, with stops in bars, a library, a cemetery and more along the way.

In Toronto, Bloomsday will be traveling down Queen Street, and Lake Ontario will stand in for the Irish Sea.

Dublin, N.H., is the first American Dublin to celebrate Bloomsday. Events will be held around town (attendees are warned that for events in the center of Dublin, park behind the town hall, as there is no public parking in the Yankee Magazine lot).
And finally, the comic version of "Ulysess" by Robert Berry, titled "Seen," which was the subject of controversy over two pages with a nude Buck Mulligan, is now available on the iPad, after all.

justin bieber breaks neck

Justin Bieber Breaks Neck? Is It True?

Did Justin Bieber break his sweet little neck in a terrible accident? Well, just like all those celebrity death rumors you see cluttering up the Net lately, this bit of nonsense is just as fake.

You may have seen the provocative phrase “Justin Bieber breaks neck” on Google Trends, or spotted a headline on a blog or gossip site or seen a shout out on the topic on Twitter. You might have even read an alleged ‘news’ report about it. Regardless, the whole thing is just a load of crap. Justin Bieber is perfectly fine as far as anyone knows and the rumor he has broken his neck is just as false as that one the other day that he had syphilis.

Note to Internet surfers out there, whenever you see some kind of crazy rumor about a famous celebrity dying, getting some terrible disease or being in a horrible accident – it is very possible it is BS.

Please, before you help spread this kind of nasty rumor by posting it around all over the place, check with a reliable news source first.

Oh, that thing about Justin Bieber holding hands with and having his hair fondled by Kim Kardashian? Well, that unfortunately is actually true. And kind of gross…

Angiotensin Receptor Blockers

Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) vs Cancer

A study says that drugs known as Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) can cause a modestly increased risk of the cancer.

Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) are drugs commonly used to lowering high blood pressure, reduce heart failure and diabetic nephropathy.

The researchers found patients were randomized to receive an ARB has a 7.2% risk of developing a new cancer, compared to 6% in the control group in the study. Among solid-organ cancers examined, only the incidence of new lung cancer was significantly higher in recipients of ARB from the control group, 0.9% compared to 0.7%.

In a written statement, Boehringer Ingelheim said the comprehensive security of internal data analysis of primary data contrary to the Lancet study conclusions about potential increased risk of malignancy. The company says the drug has been studied in clinical trials in more than 50 000 patients, and has a positive safety profile.

A combined sale of Novartis’s Diovan and related drugs, Co-Diovan, last year was $ 6 billion. Merck’s Cozaar and Hyzaar drug-related have combined sales of $ 3.6 billion.

kinect

Microsoft Kinect: For gamers this November; for business users ... later
The Microsoft officials have shared the final name (Kinect) for its Project Natal control device, and are saying to expect it to be available this November.

Why should enterprise users care? In April this year, CEO Steve Ballmer said the gesture-recognition camera/sensor Natal/Kinect device will be the most interesting product the company will release this year. Microsoft won’t be touting the device as an accompaniment to a PC for a while, but that’s where the Redmondians are going with this.

A swish of a hand will advance a slide show; a flick of the wrist will allow you to scroll without using a mouse or touchpad.

Blogger Manan Kakkar recently posted about a patent Microsoft is seeking that builds on the Kinect-like gesture-centric experience in the PC space.

Microsoft unveiled the new Kinect name at the E3 show in Los Angeles. The company also showed off some Kinect-enabled games and a a new video chat service at the confab. Microsoft still hasn’t shared pricing for Kinect, but it is expected to be $150 or less by most company watchers.

Kinect is part of Microsoft’s continuing quest to bring to market natural user interface (NUI) technologies, like touch, voice and gesture-recognition. Maybe it’s also part of a grand plan to force users to continue to exercise (even if that just means by waving a hand) while being increasingly tied to our PCs?

Flag Day

Flag Day: Why June 14?

Monday, June 14, is Flag Day. The picture to the right is from the Library of Congress, called “The Birth of Old Glory,” by artist Percy Moran, from 1917.

You can find it, along with a history of Flag Day on the Library of Congress’ website, under Today in History: June 14.

The answer is there to why Flag Day is celebrated on June 14.

On that day in 1777, the Continental Congress approved the 13-star, 13-stripe design of America’s national flag.

The federal government also has a Web page to answer all your questions on flag protocol.

jimmy dean

Jimmy Dean, Country Star And Sausage King, Dead at 81

The Country Music Hall of Famer was a singer, TV host and actor before launching Jimmy Dean Meat.

Country singer Jimmy Dean, whose career as a storyteller was equaled later in life by his success as a sausage pitchman, died at his home in Varina, Virginia, on Sunday night at the age of 81. According to CNN, the Country Music Hall of Famer apparently died of natural causes.

Though later in life his name was most familiar for his famous line of smoked sausages, Dean made his mark first in the world of country music, scoring a #1 hit on the pop and country charts in 1961 with the song "Big Bad John," a tune about a mysterious, Paul Bunyan-esque coal miner who saves his fellow workers after a mine collapse. Written with country legend Roy Acuff, the million-selling song won a 1962 Grammy for Best Country & Western Recording and helped save Dean's recording career, after his label, Columbia Records, was considering dropping him.

The tune and other story songs like "Little Black Book" and "P.T. 109" helped Dean score an ABC variety show in 1963, "The Jimmy Dean Show," which ran for three years. One of the show's regular guests was the early Muppet character Rowlf, a piano-playing dog cooked up by master puppeteer Jim Henson.

Dean also acted in the late 1960s NBC series "Daniel Boone," in which he played Boone's friend, Josh Clements, and played the role of James Bond's ally Willard Whyte in 1971's "Diamonds Are Forever."

As his music career began to wind down, Dean returned to the thing he knew best growing up: hogs. According to an Associated Press report, Dean grew up slaughtering pigs on his family's farm by hitting them over the head with the blunt end of an ax and then grinding the meat alongside his brother Don. In 1969, he started the Jimmy Dean Meat Company, which was almost instantly profitable and eventually earned him more than $75 million.

With his just-folks appeal and kind face, Dean became a staple in ads for his sausage products, even after selling the company in 1984to Sara Lee Foods, which dumped him as its pitchman in 2003.

The singer was born Seth Ward in Olton, Texas, on August 10, 1928, and raised in poverty in Plainview, Texas. His mother taught him how to play piano at age 10, and along the way he picked up guitar, harmonica and accordion, dropping out of school in the ninth grade. After leaving the Air Force in 1948, he formed a band, the Texas Wildcats, who began a strong local draw in Washington, D.C., and earned their first hit in the early 1950s with "Bummin' Around."

shockwave transformers

Shockwave Transformers, other than Rossie Huntington-Whiteley

Shockwaves are being felt by every movie lover since Michael Bay announced changing the love interest of the lead from Megan Fox to Rossie Huntington-Whiteley, Yet Shockwave Transformers is another leak from the last project of the Transformers series.

Other than Megan Fox- Rossie Huntington switching (thanks God Shia La Beouf is still there), Transformers III is going to be a 3 D, according to Michael Bay, the director of the last project of the series that kept many thinking about the gadgetry used and now we are confined that Shockwave transformers would be joining in the Transformers III.

Shockwave Transformers are going to be the main villain of the movie that is slated to be released on July 1, 2011 bringing itself into the direct competition with Green Lantern, Thor and Captain America.

The avid fans know well about the Shockwave character, though the character has went under a great deal of transformation,
but one of its characteristic remain same and everyone of us know that he is like a diabolical mad scientist with his well known laser cannon and he is fanatically loyal to Megatron. Shockwave has a simple goal; to get leadership over Deceptions to over rule Megatron.

Well much about Shockwave, the real shockwave would be sent across cinema screen to viewers’ seats and lower bodies if Rossie played like Megan Fox, the shockwave would be greater as Rosie is also a Victoria Secret model. Let us wait for the next summer to set in to experience shockwave transformers.

Watch World Cup 2010 online, Mexico vs South Africa live streaming on ESPN3: Host nation looks to pull major upset

You can watch the 2010 World Cup online, and Mexico vs South Africa is live streaming right now on ESPN3.com. South Africa, the host nation for the World Cup, is closing in on what would be a monumental upset to open the tournament, carrying a 1-0 lead into the final 20 minutes of action.

South Africa entered the tournament with little hope of placing anywhere near the top, but has thus far hung with the Mexican squad and is hoping to convert a Siphiwe Tsabalala tally into a game-winner.

What a win it would be. Hosting the World Cup is somewhat akin to hosting the Olympics, and though a victory on opening day would mean little in terms of securing a place at the podium, it would certainly be a great shot in the arm for a nation in South Africa with little in the way of a championship soccer pedigree.

This and every game will be available on the ESPN family of networks, which includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3.com. You can visit ESPN to find a printable schedule of the entire tournament, including times of the matches and what channel each game is on.

ESPN will carry the bulk of this weekend's action, with the exception of tomorrow's big-time showdown between the United States and England. That game will be carried on ABC and will likely draw a huge national audience, as the game has been anticipated since the group selections were announced.

The United States could pick up a momentous win over England tomorrow afternoon. But right now all eyes in the soccer world are on the host country of South Africa, which looks to hold off Mexico to pick up a huge victory.

Chicago Blackhawks Parade: Will It Be the Biggest Party Ever in Chicago?

Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks fans, your team has been won the Stanley Cup. For the first time in 49 years, Lord Stanley's Cup is coming to Chicago and the fans and the team alike are getting ready to party. The longest championship drought in the NHL is finally over and everyone on the North and South Shores will reap the benefits.

The party is on for the Chicago Blackhawks who will parade the Stanley Cup through downtown Chicago to give their fans a glimpse of hardware that has not been seen on Michigan Avenue in five decades.

Will it be the biggest party in the history of Chicago? It is the ninth major sports title in the city in the last 25 years, even more rare is that a team from each major sport has won a title (sorry Cubs fans), and there could a lot to live up to.

Kaka upbeat after playing well in Brazil's final warmup before World Cup

The Kaka is becoming increasingly optimistic with how he will perform at the World Cup.

The Brazil playmaker said his confidence was boosted after scoring and playing well in the team's final warmup before the tournament on Monday, and is likely to keep improving until the opener against North Korea on June 15.

"I felt fine," Kaka said. "I played better in this match. I just need to loosen up a little more, but we have a week until the first match and I will be ready."

Kaka played the entire match in Brazil's 5-1 win over Tanzania in Dar es Salaam. He acknowledged he is still not at his best, coming off a left thigh injury, but performed much better than in the 45 minutes he played in Brazil's first warmup, a 3-0 win over Zimbabwe in South Africa.

"There are still some minor things to adjust," Kaka said. "But it's not about being concerned, it's more about being anxious."

Kaka chested in a cross by Maicon in the 76th minute on Monday, scoring his first goal with Brazil in almost a year. He hadn't scored in 12 matches, since a 4-3 win against Egypt in last year's Confederations Cup.

"This goal gives me confidence, it was very important," Kaka said.

Kaka said he felt no pain from the thigh injury that had been bothering him ahead of the World Cup and forced him to miss several matches with Real Madrid this year. A groin injury had also kept Kaka out of action for parts of the season.

Brazil coach Dunga praised Kaka's determination and said the playmaker has been working hard to be 100 per cent fit for the World Cup.

"Kaka is getting better and better," Dunga said after the Tanzania match. "He is very anxious about playing. We actually have been trying to slow him down a bit."

Kaka enters the tournament as Brazil's biggest star as the team tries to win its sixth World Cup title. Kaka was a starter in the Brazil squad which lost to France in the quarter-finals of the 2006 tournament in Germany and a member of the World Cup team that clinched the title in 2002 in South Korea and Japan.

A former Brazil teammate, striker Ronaldo praised Kaka back in Brazil and was glad to see him finding the net again.

"Great to see my friend scoring a goal again," Ronaldo wrote on his Twitter page after the match against Tanzania.

Robinho and substitute midfielder Ramires scored a pair of goals each in Brazil's final warmup before the World Cup opener.

The late goal conceded by the Brazilians was the team's first in five matches, since losing 2-1 to Bolivia last October in a World Cup qualifier in the high altitude of La Paz. Led by Inter Milan defender Lucio, the defence had been perfect since then.

Brazil has not allowed many fans near its players since arriving in South Africa last month, but one of the ball boys from Monday's game was lucky to get close to the players.

Called Salomon, the boy politely asked to enter the team's changing room and was allowed in, posing for photos and receiving autographs from many of the players, the Brazilian football confederation said.

Brazil is in Group G at the World Cup, along with the North Koreans, Ivory Coast and Portugal.

Marvin Isley of the ilsey Brothers Dead at 56

Marvin Isley, legendary bassist for the R&B/funk-infused group the Isley Brothers died the Sunday night in Chicago at the age of 56, as Chicago Now first reported. While Isley was too young to join his older brothers in the group in the '60s, he was ushered into the band in the early 1970s after they signed with Epic and started working on '3+3,' the group's first gold album.

While the pre-Marvin days saw the Isleys chart with songs such as 'Twist and Shout,' 'This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak for You)' and 'It's Your Thing,' Marvin's bass playing helped usher in a fresher, funkier side of the group, with well-known staples such as 'Fight the Power,' 'That Lady' and 'For the Love of You.'

Along with the rest of his brothers, Marvin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and eventually retired from active playing in 1997, due to complications stemming from diabetes. Both his legs were eventually amputated due to his condition.

Marvin split from the Isley Brothers for a brief time, forming the Isley-Jasper-Isley trio, where they scored a No. 1 hit with 'Caravan of Love' in 1985. The Isley Brothers and Marvin's output didn't see commercial success in the '80s and '90s, yet they made their mark on the world of hip-hop, with many of their songs sampled over the years by the likes of Ice Cube, N.W.A., Jim Jones and Lily Allen.

Via L.A. Weekly, watch this clip of Isley performing with his band on 'Soul Train' in 1974.

Stephen Clancy Hill Jumps Off Cliff And Dies

A few days we reported on how porn actor Stephen Hill attacked 3 people with a sword. Police busted on the home of the 34 year old to arrest Hill, upon which Hill ran to a cliff and threatened to commit suicide. Tragically, while a police officer tried to subdue him by firing a taser, he fell back over the cliff. He died instantly upon landing.

Sources say that Stephan, who had sex with hundreds of supermodels in his lifetime (in some cases many at a time), was suffering from severe depression when the incident began. Some say he was angry over being given a lower pay; others speculate that the hard work of the job was just too much.

Stephan was a legend among porn fans for being well endowed and lasting for huge amounts of time. Many girls enjoyed working with him. It’s even been said that a lesbian tribute scene with several of the girls Stephen worked with is planned, although at this point this is purely a rumor.

RIP Stephen Clancy Hill.

Ted Koppel

Ted Koppel's son, 40, found dead in NYC apartment

The 40-year-old son of former ABC News anchor Ted Koppel was found dead in an apartment in the upper Manhattan, and the cause of death is being investigated, authorities said Tuesday. Andrew Koppel was declared dead around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the apartment in the Washington Heights neighborhood, Detective John Sweeney said.

Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the city medical examiner, said an autopsy was performed Monday but results were pending further study, including toxicology and tissue testing.

Additional tests were needed to determine the manner and cause of death, Borakove said. They will take a few weeks to complete, she said.

Koppel had been drinking for hours with a man he met at a bar, the New York Post reported Tuesday. "He had a straw hat on, and I had one on, and he said, 'Nice hat, man,'" his drinking partner, Russell Wimberly, told the newspaper. "We got to talking, and he started buying me drinks."
