Another one of my favorite classic films, Cabin in the Sky, is the story of an awkward but sweet man named Little Joe. Joe's gambling problem has consumed his life until one he promises his wife Petunia that he'll repent and accompany her to church. Unfortunately he leaves church to play craps at a local joint and ends up the victim of a shooting.

The powers that be intend to give Joe a second chance, but who will prevail. It's good versus evil. The Heavenly forces are led by a General and those from below are led by 'Lucifer, Jr". Both sides are trying to steer Joe their way. Meanwhile, the sultry Georgia Brown (played by none other than Mrs. Lena Horne) proves to be more than enough temptation in her own right. Will Petunia's sweet prayers be enough to get him on the right path?
