Nia Long, Knowles tackle hair in Essence
Tackling hair care, self esteem issues and the taboo subject of what "Good Hair" is, Nia Long, Solange Knowles and Chris Rock come together for a interesting conversation in Nov's issue of Essence magazine.

Also joined by Ledisi (Verve) and Tanika Ray, Long, Knowles and Rock's words on hair care come just in time for the release of Rock's documentary "Good Hair".

In theaters Friday, "Good Hair" takes a sort of comedic and at times serious look at hair and how it affects lives.

Currently on a publicity jaunt, that reaches the Wendy Williams show Friday, Nia Long covers the November issue of Essence.

Speaking of the film with Essence.com's managing editor, Long says "I realized that there was a void in terms of what black women consider beautiful."

"Hopefully this is sort of the launching of us having these open forms and conversations about... black love; about black beauty; about images of what we consider beautiful; about sort of our self love and commitment to ourselves."

'Good Hair' opens in theaters Friday, October 9. The latest issue of Essence is on newsstands now.
