Taco Bell Meat Mixture Defended by Company
Taco Bell meat is being defended by the fast-food company after allegations surfaced that most of the product isn't all beef.
On Friday, a class action lawsuit was filed against the company by Montgomery law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles. The lawsuit claims that 65 percent of the Taco Bell meat mixture contains filler is mostly made of filler ingredients such as soy lecithin, autolyzed yeast extract and modified corn starch.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a California resident Amanda Obney. Obney reportedly isn't seeking money- she just wants Taco Bell to publicly reveal it’s ingredients.

An attorney for the law firm said they found the filler products after testing several food items. Attorney Dee Miles said Taco Bell saves money by adding fillers because beef is the most expensive part of their products.
"It's giving them a competitive edge. It is an economic edge" over other companies that sell Mexican-style food, Miles said.
However, Taco Bell said they plan to vehemently defend the claims.
"At Taco Bell, we buy our beef from the same trusted brands you find in the supermarket," Creed said. "We start with 100 percent USDA-inspected beef. Then we simmer it in our proprietary blend of seasonings and spices to give our seasoned beef its signature Taco Bell taste and texture."
